I must admit that in Canada and the US we don't care that much about soccer... or football for the europeans out there. I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Soccer... be it World Cup or not is boring... it is slow paced... with way to much time being wasted with the ball being first kicked to one end of the field... then next being kicked to the other side.
I would be more willing to watch soccer if there were more scoring chances..... a 3 hour game and a 1 - 0 score is just boring... but hey... that is just me. |

I can't believe you don't like football. I practically watched like every single game. You say football is boring? You guys should admire these football players. I mean could you spend 3 2 to 3 hours of constant running and sprints?? These guys are amazing!
A 1-0 match boring? What about the rest of the match? Prolly both goalies are sooo good that they prevent each team from scoring the goal. That's what makes it so exciting... the fact that it's not easy to make a goal. And when you do make a goal you feel like the team has already won the game. I dunno but to me it's fantastic!!!
I'd rather have my children play football than some of that boring game like baseball. Is THAT boring!! There's barely any physical activity involved. The game is: throw the ball, hit the ball and catch it. The only actual running occurs when trying to catch the ball and running to the bases. And what about american football? I mean players tackle other players in football but in this american football the tackles are actually MEANT to happen and are part of the actual game. Meh. |

i wont argue with you about soccer players and that they are amazing athletes. probably the most fit athletes of any sport. Here is my problem with "football" i dont want to sit and watch 20 men run back and forth on a field because they are so good at what they do that either team rarely gets a chance to shoot on net. As for the goalies being so good that the scores are low, i disagree. few shots on net and amazing defense and the fact that when a shot does happen it is more than likely to go wide or hit a post are what keep the scores low. the other problem i have with soccer is that the players, although in great physical shape are a bunch of whiners and fakes. they take dives like there is no tomorrow, hoping to get the other player a yellow card or a penalty shot. its crazy how much this happens. and then if they do get hit or knocked by a opposing player they fall to the ground like they have a terrible injury. its like WWE on a field.
finally the last thing i hate, and i did watch the world cup final game fyi, was that these players can play thier hearts out go into overtime, still not score and then the whole bloody tournement comes down to penalty kicks to decide the winner. I couldnt believe that it could be decided this way. it comes down to pure luck. the goalie decides before the shot which direction he is going to dive, and if he is right then great, if not, goal. the italian goalie guessed wrong every single shot and they still win cause one shooter hits the post, come on thats not right!!! there is no skill in winning like that and these guys have a lot of skill.
Anyways, i'm not trying to convince you to hate soccer or turn you against it, simply telling the reason why i dont like it, more than just "ya man soccer sucks"
