I am not good with motion movie soundtracks. I remember that movie Chariots of Fire had a few songs that had no business on the charts.. and yet they do.

Isn't Purple Rain classified as the best motion movie soundtrack album?

That was extremely popular when I was growing up.

I also like the sound tracks to most of Adam Sandler's movies. The guy has great taste in music IMO. I grew up with the hair bands so I truely like his musical choices.

I knew I forget one. Purple Rain was huge back in the 80's. Even today some still enjoy Let's Go Crazy, Purple Rain, When Doves Cry. Adam Sandler movies have awesome soundtracks. Classic kick a@# rock.

Thought of a strange one but I thought I would ask what you thought. What about High Fidelity? I was also thinking of the movie Airheads....

Both have great tunes on the soundtracks. I will not extend the list. Otherwise it will turn out to be 1000 best soundtracks. No way I'm going there.

I usually hate soundtracks. basic formula for a soundtrack - 1 or maybe 2 songs from a huge band, usually songs that arent good enough to make it on to the bands own CD, then 10 songs by virtual nobodys trying to make it in the music biz, most of the songs sucking to high heaven

Agreed. Soundtracks are little more than a marketing scheme for Universal Studios to promote low-end Universal Music artists that they sign on to clone a decent artist on another label. Of course, not every movie is courtesy of Universal, so Warner then, or what have you. It's a cash grab, and it's little more than a coincedence when there is one that is actually good.

I completely agree... but there has got to be a few good ones out there right? They cannot all be bad or they wouldn't sell... and they wouldn't get produced anymore...
