Rumour has it Peter Jackson will return as director to work on the Lord Of The Rings prequel The Hobbit. On who will star in it is unknown. Release date slated betwwen 2007-2010. Sir Ian McKellen may reprise his role as Gandolf, and Ian Holm may play Bilbo Baggins again. I hope Peter Jackson will be behind the magic and creation of The Hobbit. I can't see any other director pulling it off.
