I watched Star Wars Revenge of the Sith tonight and it was good.
If you plan on watching this movie and you haven't yet then read no further
I warned you
If your still reading....... you better not complain that I gave away the storyline.
You have now been warned enough... read on at your own risk
This movie starts out with a visually amazing battle scene. The detail and the flawless definition on the battle cruisers is superbly done. My first impression from this opening battle sequence was “This movie is going to be great!”
Hayden Christensen, who was the weakest link in the cast, was decent as Darth Vader and played the role fairly well. I thought that Natalie Portman who was beautiful in this film was a little bit weak in this movie… but that might just have been her lines.
If I am to nit pick the movie at all, I was a little disappointed in Ian McDiarmid who played Supreme Chancellor Palpatine aka Lord Sith. When Palpatine revealed himself as the dark lord his voice changed and sounded cheesy and contrived. His medaling with Anakin was too obvious and it seemed to me that it should have been more subtle. I assume with time restraints it was difficult to achieve subtlety. That aside the Revenge of the Sith was FANTASTIC!
The battle scene between Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader) was very well done. I liked the sword play, I liked the action and the CGI was amazing. The defeat of Darth Vader by Obi-Wan Kenobi exceeded my expectations.
The Yoda character as always was impressive even when he was a puppet. The level of CGI in Revenge of the Sith reminded me of Gollum / Smeagol from the Lord of the Rings films. The detail was almost such that you could have been fooled. The fight sequence with the Lord Sith was good, I only wish we could have seen more of the spinning sword play. Yoda rocks! I like the way George Lucas had him shuffle from place to place until he was in a fight and then he turned into a nimble, agile fighting machine.
Samuel L. Jackson played Mace Windu and his demise surprised me a bit. Not that he died but in Anakins role in his death. The fact that Anakin warns the Jedi council that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is actually Lord Sith made it more surprising that he would then turn on Jedi.
Anakins transformation to the darkside came quickly… and almost too quickly to be believable. From one moment being dissatisfied with the Jedi council to, turning on Windu to then killing children was difficult for me to believe at first but again the time restraints would have made the transformation difficult to achieve over a longer period of time.
I recommend this film to anyone. George Lucas finished his masterpiece with his usual brilliance. I went into this movie with guarded optimism and was pleasantly surprised. Check this one out everyone. This one is a keeper and makes me want to finish this movie off by watching the first three…. Or is that the last three… never mind just go watch Revenge of the Sith. |

| Do yourself a favour and skip the original Star Wars for awhile. After watching Revenge Of The Sith, the original Star Wars Lightsabre battle was so sad that I was rank with disappointment, even taking into consideration the time, and technology, gap. They turned it up a notch in the next 2, thank-god, but the fight looked like they were swinging flourescent lights at each other, taking care to lightly touch sabers or risk smashing a bulb and inhaling all that dust. Maybe thats the real reason Darth was forced to resort to respiratory aid? So many questions... |

Speaking of swinging fluorescent lights did you guys hear about the dude in Australia who along with his girlfriend modified two fluorescent lights by filling them with gas. They lit the gas on fire, turned out the lights, and acted out a scene from Revenge of the Sith.... sadly.... and to the "Shock" of everyone I am sure, they crossed tubes breaking them. The fluorescent tubes exploded, firing glass chips at a high rate of speed while at the same time igniting the pretty gas which consequently lit them on fire. Last I heard they were in intensive care nursing numerous glass inflicted wounds along with 3rd degree burns over most of their bodies. For a moment there I am sure they knew how Darth Vader must have felt after his battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi . Just another case of Darwin pruning the herd. |

| I like what you've said there, and tomorrow I'm going to watch Return Of the Jedi. Then I'll start over from episode 1 again which will lead me back to Silvercity to Revenge Of The Sith. A viscious cycle. |
