Okay, I'm into this one:
1. Gabrielle's Oboe by Ennio Morricone from the soundtrack for the Mission.
2. One Perfect Sunrise by Orbital.
3. Turn Me Round by kd lang.
4. The Sensual Woman by Herbalizer.
5. 2112 by Rush, eh.
and just for posterity:
6. Nel Blu Di Pinto Di Blu - the David Bowie version from the Absolute Beginners soundtrack.
7. Waterfall by the Stone Roses.
8. Mean To Me - the Chet Baker version.
9. Unforgettable by Nat King Cole, with kudos to his daughter Natalie for the remake.
and last but not least:
10. The Log Driver's Waltz - from the CBC Vignette.

There are VERY few songs that, if i happen to be flipping radio stations and I hear them I just HAVE to stop and listen, but there are two that I can't just can't pass by. I doubt they are songs that those who know me would guess.
1. One Headlight by the Wallflowers. I don't know what it is about this song, whether it is the lyrics, the music, hook, story, or combination I just have to listen to this song when it is one. I like a lot of different music and can't think of a song that i like more.
2. Absolutely Anytime - the Watchmen. This is all about the message. Best lyrics in the song :
Where's the tenderness
Where's that girl I miss
Where's the sweetness that would send me flying
Bring her back to me
A grain of apathy
This life is yours
There's no denying (yeah)
What do you want me to say
BTW the Watchmen is hugely under rated band IMHO.

1 Master of Puppets by Metallica
2 Rock & Roll by Led Zepplin
3 Who Made Who by AC DC
4 Hotel Califorinia by The Eagles
5 Cover of the Rolling Stones by Dr. Hook
Those are some of my favorite songs
I enjoy all kinds of music (except C&W) so it is kinda hard to choose only five songs
peace out brother |

I hate to admit it.... but I am not a big music person. I like music, but for the life of me I cannot remember bands names, music titles and so forth, so this is a tough one to answer for me.
Here it goes.
Sweet Child of Mine - G N R Hey I really like it. Axel Rose’s voice is (was) amazing. This if the first song of a great band with a new sound for that time.
This Flight Tonight - Nazareth I love the guitar baseline... great rhythm
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen, Great head banging tune. Wayne’s World help revive this classic.
Hell's Bells - AC/DC, I love the use of the bells, guitar work and vocals. This song invokes a certain adrenaline rush in me every time I hear it.
Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana, this was a great song. I can't help but sing along to it when its on the radio.
As you can tell I like a lot of classic rock. The ability of bands in this time period, to get your heart pumping is amazing. If a song can get me energized then it is a great song. |

Ya know, it's funny how some songs catch you offgard. I really enjoyed that wallflower's post because I've experienced the same thing. Something about a song will hook me, and over time I'll attribute some meaning to the song. Dr. Spoot introduced me to a track by Groove Armada called "Easy", and the chorus runs:
Looking back, it was easy
easy, easy, easy
it was easy!
all right, all right.
It has all the elements of a good mantra, and is therfor a bit hypnotic. It appeals to my desire for life to be easier. And it has a great beat, groovy sounds, and really great energy that feels motivating.
I began to use it for a purpose: To think of how it will feel when I accomplish my goals. I visualize myself having finished that book I was intending to read, the work that I needed to do, something fitness or diet related, or just whatever I wanted. And I did find things began to feel easier to do.
Needless to say, I played that song A LOT. But eventually it faded away as other music caught my attention.
Right now I'm into The Supream Beings of Leisure. Once again, I'm hypnotized by music, this time in a more social sort of way. |

| Jane's Addiction had some great material flowing through the airwaves. Jane's music gave me a rush. Their music style opened doors for other underground unknown bands for me to listen to and enjoy. Anyone like The Pixies or Sonic Youth? How about My Bloody Valentine? If not give them all a listen. |

| I was really into Sonic Youth at one point. I also like Jane's Addiction too but I was never really into the Pixies and I don't remember My Bloody Valentine. |

| My Bloody Valentine can be compared to Sonic Youth. A band who also loves to experiment with new loud, edgey sounds. Their somwehat still unkown in the mainstream scene, but worth listening to. Rolling Stone Magazine rated one of My Bloody Valentine's albums in their top 500 albums of all time earlier this year. Check them out. |
