Review: Star Wars Episode 1 by George Lucas
Every journey has a first step.
Every saga has a beginning...
1999 Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace by George Lucas.
Return to a galaxy far, far away in the first chapter of the mythic Star Wars saga. The Phantom Menace is set thirty years earlier before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The Phantom Menace introduces young Anakin Skywalker, a boy with unkown incredible powers to himself, is discovered by Jedi Qui-Gon Jin. Qui-Gon assists Anakin and saves him from a lifetime of slavery. In order for Anakin to learn the ways of the Force, Anakin must leave his mother behind and venture onto an amazing journey. The young, ambitious, apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Master Jedi Yoda are unsure of Anakin Skywalker, for his future is cloudy and unpredictable. Palpatine, the shawdowy evil Emperor, is a Senator in the Galactic Republic. Now is the time for the Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace, to battle against, in a turbulent galaxy, the dark presence waiting to strike and conquer and control the universe. This Star Wars wasn't my favourite for the simple reason, I found it a bit dull in character development and storyline. The movie dragged in parts leaving me unsatisfied. I did enjoy the pod race, and the battle scenes. Darth Mahl ( spelt wrong ) didn't have enough screen time to know his character enough. Besides that The Phantom Menace was fair. Also, I could have done without the annoying Jar-Jar Binks. There was no need for Jar-Jar at all.
