She still lives in New York with her parents, Lesley & Skip and younger brother Jansen. Her mom got her started in the business by doing commercials when she was just 11 months old. Then at only 4 1/2 she was cast on the soap opera One Life To Live, where she remained until 1997. Since then, she has gone on to appear in many feature films and TV movies. But she is probably best known in the United States for her role as Lizzie Spaulding, whom she has portrayed since 1996, on the daytime drama Guiding Light. In Guiding Light, Hayden's character Lizzie's battle with leukemia, the show received a Special Recognition Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for bringing national awareness of the disease to the attention of daytime viewers. Hayden has starred in Remember the Titans with Denzil Washington and Joe Somebody with Tim Allen. She lives in a suburb of New York City with her parents, younger brother, and a houseful of animals. When Hayden isn't working on her movies, she enjoys singing, dancing, horseback riding, gymnastics, taking piano lessons, and swimming. Panettiere has appeared in over a dozen full-length feature films, as well as several made-for-TV movies. She also had a starring role in FOX's Ally McBeal and a recurring guest role in Malcolm in the Middle. She also recently appeared on an episode of Punk'd, as an accomplice in punking her boyfriend, Stephen Colletti. She also has guest starred in Law & Order: SVU. Panettiere currently stars as Claire Bennet in the NBC series Heroes as a high school cheerleader with a healing factor. Panettiere has been involved with many animated movies, beginning with A Bug's Life (as Dot), later to follow was Dinosaur, Kingdom Hearts and The Mark of Kri. Her next movie is Racing Stripes, a partly animated film, but Hayden will star as the human role; other cast members include the voices of Whoopi Goldberg, Dustin Hoffman, Joshua Jackson and Mandy Moore. In 2003 she joined the likes of Jessica Lang, Tom Wilkinson, Jane Anderson and Clacy Brown in 'Normal' the movie about a Midwestern husband and father who announces his plans to have a sex change operation. In July of the same year Hayden appeared in a John Guare play called, "Landscape of the Body", for the Williams town theater festival, in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Neutrogena made her the cover girl for their new worldwide ad campaign; in this regard Panettiere followed in the footsteps of actresses Josie Bissett, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Mandy Moore, Kristin Kreuk, Mischa Barton, Gabrielle Union and Jennifer Freeman. Panettiere was nominated for a Grammy in 1999 for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for A Bug's Life Read-Along [2000].
