Torri was born on December 6, 1966 and is most well-known for her roles in the TekWar movies and series, The English Patient and more recently Stargate Atlantis. Higginson is also a theater actress and has appeared in Three Tall Women, Weldon Rising and Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Higginson took over the role of Dr. Elizabeth Weir from Jessica Steen in a guest shot on the season eight opener of Stargate SG-1. She was then carried over as the leader of the Atlantis expedition on Stargate Atlantis. Torri Higginson was once linked romantically to John Kastner of the Canadian rock band Doughboys. She is also the older sister of Luke Higginson, frontman for the Toronto indie rock band Debaser. Torri starred in the 1995 movie, Jungleground, with three other Stargate actors (despite the fact that Jungleground was made two years prior to the Stargate television series): Peter Williams (Apophis), JR Bourne (Martouf), and Lexa Doig (Dr. Lam, also wife of Michael Shanks who plays Daniel Jackson).
